For the Coronation Park wildflower and sculpture garden project, we used a diverse mix of native wildflowers and grass species carefully selected for their heritage value and their adaptability to our local environment. By incorporating species that thrive in this area, we will create a sustainable and vibrant landscape that supports biodiversity and enhances the park’s natural beauty.
Below is a list of species that feature in the wildflower garden. Each of these has been chosen not only for its ecological importance but also for its ability to establish successfully and provide a long season of colour, interest, and food for pollinators:
Grass species:
Smooth-Stalked Meadow Grass
Strong Creeping Red Fescue
Slender Creeping Red Fescue
Hard Fescue
Common Bent
Crested Dogstail
NVG Value Grasses Mixture

The Carnation Park Wildflower and Sculpture Garden and Meadow was a community-led project developed by Friends of Stoneface Creative, with support from Bradfield Parish Council. The project brought together people from across the community, including pupils from Oughtibridge Primary School and members of the local Brownies. They played an important role in helping to design the sculptures and selecting the wildflowers and meadow grasses that would be planted, creating a space that truly reflects the community’s vision and involvement.
